It must be noted that our products are manufactured for specific vehicle only. For instance, motorcycle plates for motorcycles, imported plates for imported vehicles and UK plates for UK vehicles.
With every purchase from JDM Plates; we will issue a ‘Declaration of Legality’ which has a QR code displayed in order to quickly access this page.

JDM Plates licence plates are certified to meet the BSAU 145e standard using BSI tested materials and are fully compliant with the customary law under;
‘The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001’ detailed in Statutory Instrument 2001 No.561 whilst complying with the most recent Amendment;
‘The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) (Amendment) Regulations 2021’ which is detailed in Statutory Instrument 2021 No.831.
JDM Plates are also registered with the DVLA as a number plate supplier with Supplier Identify Number 57790 under;
‘The Vehicles Crime (Regulation of Registration Plate Suppliers) Regulations 2008’ detailed in Statutory Instrument 2008 No.1715 under the powers of ‘The Vehicles (Crimes) Act 2001’.
In order for us to manufacture road legal number plates, we need to see and record, at minimum, 2 pieces of documentation; one piece to prove identification and another to prove some association with the registration number that is going to be produced.
In order to comply with, ‘The Vehicles Crime (Regulation of Registration Plate Suppliers) Regulations 2008‘, we need to see, and record these aforementioned copies of documentation.

In order for us to manufacture road legal number plates, with the required legal markings, we need to comply with the minimum spacing requirements with respect to ‘The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001‘ and the relevant 2002 and 2021 ammendments.
The minimum spacing requirements are different for each vehicle type, whether it be for an imported vehicle, motorcycle or standard UK car. The details are as follows:-
If number plates show no legal markings on the bottom of the number then they are quite simply not road legal. If a number plate has no legal markings, then the driver of that particular vehicle is potentially exposing themselves to a minimum fine of £100 and a potential 3 points; this may likely change in the future.
It must be noted that the legal markings are allowed to be printed within the bottom margin of a number plate and must be a minimum of 3mm high.
