Toyota Number Plates

Incorporated on 28th August 1937 by Kiichiro Toyodo in what is now known as Toyota City (previously known as Koromo before 1959), Toyota Motor Corporation has had a major influence in Japan as one of the major conglomerates which would eventually become a globally-leading multinational company in automobile manufacturing. At JDM Plates, as per our brand name (acronymised for Japanese Domestic Market), we supply all imported number plates for cars manufactured, sold and then imported into the UK. This means that we can offer the smallest, road legal Toyota number plates in the UK which remains compliant with all The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations & Amendments.

With a net worth of $236B USD, Toyota is the largest car manufacturer in the world. With their flagship vehicle, the Corolla, having sold over 44.1 million units globally since its first generation model being manufactured in 1966, Toyota has left an irreversible impact on the automotive industry, and how people travel. Not only having exponential growth by expanding its markets across the world after gaining the traction needed through selling cars to the expanding Japanese middle class, but Toyota is also heralded for being a world-leading supplier of hybrid electric cars, beginning with the Toyota Prius in 1997. Toyota has developed and manufactured over 40 hybrid electric car models internationally.

In addition to Toyota number plates we offer in 3D gel and 4D acrylic number plates, for all-electric vehicles, we all offer electric Toyota number plates, as well. These road legal Toyota number plates offer a few benefits: as a result of them indicating your car is a ‘green’ vehicle, it is therefore exempt from numerous expenses that car owners of internal combustion engine vehicles will need to pay, such as the London Congestion Charge, as well as the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge. Not to mention the money you would already save on fuel costs, our electric Toyota number plates are a no-brainer for electric car owners.

The Toyota War

Alongside Toyota’s subsidisation by the Imperial Japanese Government during the Second Sino-Japanese War, and then World War II to aid in the war effort, the Toyota Hilux and the Toyota Land Cruiser were both used extensively to support the Chadian military with supply and mobility in their conflict with Libya, colloquially known as the Toyota War. Roughly 400 Toyota vehicles were used in the Chadian-Libyan conflict, which assisted the Chadian path to victory over Gaddafi’s regime. Sold on the black market, Toyota had never intended these vehicles to be used for military purposes by aggressor states.

The Toyota War, Toyota Number Plates

This is not the only conflict Toyota vehicles have been used in, either. Throughout the Arabic world, predominantly during the Arab Spring, militias and insurgents alike used Toyota 4×4 vehicles to bolster their forces for their reliability, ruggedness and for how well they fare in desert and off-road environments. These cars were either stolen, or purchased from black market dealers and were used by some of the most extreme, fundamentalist clandestine terror cells including ISIS – representatives of Toyota declared they never knowingly supplied these groups with their cars.

Putting Toyota to the Test

To demonstrate one Toyota car’s durability, in one infamous episode of Top Gear, a Toyota Hilux endured a series of unorthodox tests ranging from it being driven around Bristol carelessly, resulting in numerous crashes; crushed by caravans dropped onto it by cranes; completely submerged into the sea for hours; set alight with planks of wood thrown in the car whilst on fire, and most famously, being placed on top of a building planned for demolition, only for its engine to shockingly still be functioning, with only minor maintenance being required for the car itself to be able to move independently whilst replacing none of its parts.

However, there is no use in purchasing one of the world’s most durable cars when it does not have the legal Toyota number plates which means it can’t be legally driven on public spaces. This is why at JDM Plates, not only do we supply all smallest legal Toyota number plates, but our number plates are made using a premium acrylic, which are far more durable and will need far more exposure to the sun for a much greater period compared to standard acrylic plastics.
